So sorry that this will have to be a little short, I don´t have much time left and Christmas is rather hectic here in the mission office. Regardless, Merry Christmas to all! I miss all the wonderful memories and traditions that we have at this marvellous time of year, but I´m having the time of my life here in Argentina during the season of the Lord. It is absolutely incredible to be serving God in this way during Christmas. I´ve never really understood Christmas and the gift of Christ´s birth in the way I do know, and I testify that over two thousand years ago, a child was born in a stable, wrapped in swadling clothes and laid in a manger, and that this child was the Son of God, the great Jehovah of the Old Testament, the Savior of the world, our Redeemer. I testify that the gift of his life and His sacrifice are the product of infinite love, and that because of His love we can be healed and saved from death and sin.
This week was extremely hot, over one hundred every day and it feels like more because of the humidity. Thankfully there was an electric rainstorm last night, and it cooled off a little. We found out on Monday that the Treico family got really badly offended by the Bishop at a ward activity the Saturday before and don´t want anything to do with the church right now. Thankfully the dad and son are still willing to talk with us, so we were able to talk to them about what happened and try to make things right again. They didn´t come to church again this Sunday, but from what they told us Israel and Claudio are going to try their best to come back. We´ll see what Roxanna says with time. We had a super powerful talk with Israel about forgiveness and the Atonement of Christ, and he said he wants to forgive and come back, which is AWESOME.
The Yagüe family is doing well, we´re going to spend Christmas eve with them this week along with two other missionaries from the office. Maria the daughter and her boyfriend Martin have a marriage date in January and Maria is going to get baptized on her birthday a few days afterward.
We had an amazing Christmas conference with the whole mission on Friday, President Parreño taught us about the birth of Christ in Luke 2:12. He replaced the word child with Love, seeing as his birth was the greatest act of love, and taught us that the two commandments (love god, love everyone else) are given to us because we need to learn to love. We are beings made as a product of infinite love, and saved by the same love. I´m so grateful that I have the opportunity to learn to love so many people in my mission. It´s truly incredible to see the changes in the lives of the people as the feel God´s love and put it into action through the Atonement of Christ. The atonement of Christ is real, and because of it we celebrate the birth of the Savior of us all, even Jesus Christ. I love you all a ton, can´t wait to talk with you on Christmas!
