Argentina – Week 52

Dearest Family,

Everythings been all good here in Mar del Plata! God definitely watches over his missionaries, nothing bad has happened to us. I´ve also gained a firmer testimony of obedience. As long as we´ve obeyed all the counsel of our mission president, nothings happened to us and we´ve had good success!

This week, my companion and I decided that we would talk with EVERYONE about the gospel, open our mouths in every moment, and we found many wonderful people! The tricky part is helping them to overcome the natural man and wake up early to come to church, but we´ll get there soon with them.

I´ve felt extremely strongly that the work has continued to accelerate, and that God is preparing the world at a more and more rapid pace for the second coming of the Savior. It´s been awesome to see the change in my mission, amazing things are happening here that we wouldn´t have even dreamed of a year ago in this mission. Now is the time to share the gospel!

This week I was studying the story of Joseph in Egypt. I learned a few things about God´s work and love and forgiveness:
Joseph was sold into Egypt by his brothers for jealousness, but he made the best of his situation and worked hard. He was once again wrongly imprisoned, but continued to be honest, hard working, and trustworthy. It is due to his diligence in being a person of high moral integrity that he was able to rise both times out of captivity and to the place the Lord had prepared for him. He ends up as the second hand man of Pharoah, and is able to use his position to save the lives of his family and all the Israelites, thereby fulfilling Gods promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. In the end, when he is reunited with his brothers, he doesn´t reproach them, he doesn´t chastise or chasten them, he only tells them this:

Fear not: for am I in the place of God? But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.

Many times, we as human beings desire vengance and seek to hurt when we are hurt, but let us follow the example of our Savior, and forgive our debtors.

I love you all so much! Know that the work of the Lord is hastening.

Un abrazo,
Elder Hoffman
